What's In Your Credit Report?

A new Federal law can let you see what’s in your credit report – for free!

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), requires the major credit reporting companies – Equifax, Experian and TransUnion – to provide a free copy of your credit report. You can request a free report once every 12 months.

Knowing what’s in your credit report can save you a lot of money when applying for a mortgage, home equity loan or car loan. The credit reporting companies compile information about you that is then used by lenders to evaluate your credit worthiness.
If the report contains erroneous information, you’ll be able to report the mistake to the reporting companies to clear it up.

To get a free copy of your credit report, you can call 1-877-322-8228 or go to a special website AnnualCreditReport.com to place your request online.
