After The Holidays
Ugh! The holidays are almost over and we're back to school. I always hate this time of year. There's a long winter ahead of us. After all the holiday fun, it's not so much fun to go back to routine. I think I'm always so depressed because of the boredom-what are we supposed to do on these long winter nights? I've thought of some ideas to help beat the winter blues.
One thing I've tried is volunteering. There are many organizations near you that would love volunteers. Check into the animal shelter, a local soup kitchen, etc. I always feel good after I help out and it's even more fun when I go with a few friends. Another fun thing to do is to host a bake sale or garage sale. You can bake and sell cookies, or sell off some of the unwanted gifts that you got. Another great idea I love to do is to have a party! You don't need a reason to throw a party, right? Just invite a few friends, take out some good food, turn up the music and dance! It feels good to let loose, not just to be focused on homework and tests.
Speaking of tests, if we have to study anyway, why not make it fun? I always like to invite people over to study with me. Although it usually takes a little longer (or a lot longer?) it's more fun. We end up talking about teachers, school, and everything else. Whatever you do, plan for a little fun every day so the winter doesn't leave you wishing for spring....which is on its way!
The youth of today
are our future.
When learning to swim, you might drown if your first lesson were alone in the deep end, so why should we expect to throw our children into the real world without getting their feet wet? You’re starting to realize that you’ll have a little change in your pocket if you rake the leaves or shovel the neighbor’s driveway. You might even be old enough to apply for a job. The idea is catching on that dough is a good thing to have, but did you know that the real power comes from knowing how to manage that money?
