Encourage your child to get a job this summer. While the economy may be on the rebound, summertime is a wonderful opportunity for kids to learn the value of money.

Whether it's working at the local supermarket, babysitting, car washing, house sitting, dog walking, lawn mowing, or any other opportunity your child can think of, help them figure out what they'd enjoy doing and provide them with the guidance and resources they need to make it happen. Help them set a savings goal so the money means something to them. Then, watch your child feel the sense of satisfaction that comes from earning her own spending money.
